The delegation,
led by Dana Al-Zoubi, secretary-general of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and
Supply, arrived in Germany as part of an institutional partnership with the
German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and
Climate Action, in
collaboration with the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce in Berlin.
Gerlind Heckmann
of the Federal Ministry’s General Department for Foreign Policy chaired the
German side to the meeting.
Zoubi gave a
presentation on the Jordanian economy and foreign trade policy, reviewing the
challenges the country is facing and the government’s plans to stimulate
growth, including increasing export competitiveness, according to a ministry
statement issued on Saturday.
She also reviewed
potential avenues of cooperation with the German Federal Ministry to enhance
export promotion, expressing appreciation of the Federal Republic of Germany
for its ongoing support of the Jordanian economy and programs that are designed
to strengthen the private sector’s role in export development and promotion.
The German
official, on the other hand, said that the
Jordanian-German institutional
partnership’s goal is to share knowledge in order to help small- and
medium-sized businesses in both countries export more while also involving the
private sector.
She stated that
the Jordanian-German export promotion collaboration is the first for Germany
with an Arab country.
During the
meetings, the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply and the German Federal
Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action signed a declaration of intent
to establish an institutional partnership to promote small and medium
enterprise exports.
