AMMAN — Issa Mohammad Ahmed, a Jordanian
national who serves as a translator at the
Philippine Embassy in Amman, was
conferred with a Presidential Award from the Republic of the Philippines at the
awarding ceremony on June 29, according to an embassy statement.

The award was bestowed upon the Jordanian at the
Manila Marriott Hotel.
“Ahmed was recognized for his exceptional
contribution in promoting the interests and safeguarding the rights of Filipino
nationals in Jordan,” the embassy said.
It said Ahmed has been with the Philippine Embassy
since 2012, practically providing 24/7 service to distressed Filipinos by assisting
Embassy officials and the Embassy lawyer in handling over 100 legal cases
involving Filipinos in the Kingdom.
He also coordinates with
Jordanian authorities to
come up with effective and speedy resolution of these cases. “Ahmed is also
instrumental in the repatriation of over 1,100 Filipino workers during the
height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020,” the statement said.
Ahmed is a recipient of the Kaanibng Bayan Award
(Partner of the Nation) – one of the four distinct categories of the
Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas
(PAFIOO).
The said award is
conferred to foreign individuals and organizations for their significant
contribution to Philippine progress and development, or in advancing the cause
or promoting the interests of overseas Filipino communities.
