AMMAN – The growth of Jordan's exports of jewelry,
pharmaceuticals, and other items has offset the decline in the overall value of
national exports from the beginning of the current year until the end of last
September.

According to Al-Mamlaka TV, Jordan's exports
of jewelry and precious metals increased by 71.5 percent by the end of
September this year, pharmaceuticals by 28.2 percent, and other items by 12.2
percent, according to official statistical data reported by Petra.
The value of national exports of jewelry and
precious metals reached around JD609 million by the end of September, compared
to JD355 million for the same period last year. The value of exports of
pharmaceuticals amounted to about JD377 million, compared to JD294 million for
the same period last year.
The value of national exports of other items
reached JD2.515 billion by the end of last September this year, compared to
JD2.241 billion for the same period last year.
However, the statistics show a decline in the
percentages of national exports since the beginning of the current year until
the end of last September for clothing and its accessories by 13.9 percent, raw
potash by 37.2 percent, phosphate by 23.7 percent, and fertilizers by 14.3
percent.
