AMMAN — Jordanian exports achieved growth in
the first quarter of 2023, demonstrating positive performance with various
trading partners and economic blocs, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

According to the latest data from the
Department of Statistics’ foreign trade report, the total value of Jordanian
exports reached JD1.975 billion during this period, compared to JD1.815 billion
for the same period last year.
GAFTA sees 5.5% growth in Jordanian exports
Within the Greater Arab Free Trade Area
(GAFTA), Jordanian exports experienced a growth rate of 5.5 percent during the
first quarter of 2023.
The value of national exports to this region
reached JD630 million, up from JD597 million in the corresponding period last
year.
This growth was primarily driven by an
increase in exports to the Saudi market, which reached approximately JD204
million.
NAFTA witness 11.2% rise in Jordanian exports,
led by the US
Jordanian exports to North American Free Trade
Agreement (NAFTA) countries also saw substantial growth in the first quarter of
2023. The value of exports to this region increased by 11.2 percent, reaching
about JD418 million compared to JD376 million in the previous year.
The surge was primarily attributed to
increased exports to the US, which amounted to JD394 million.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2023,
Jordanian exports to non-Arab Asian countries recorded notable growth. The
value of exports to this region increased by 10 percent, reaching approximately
JD616 million compared to JD560 million in the same period last year.
This growth was fueled by the rising demand
for Jordanian exports in India, which amounted to JD419 million.
Jordanian exports to EU countries surge by
28.3%
EU countries proved to be another significant
market for Jordanian exports in the first quarter of 2023. The value of exports
to EU countries increased by 28.3 percent, reaching about JD81 million compared
to JD63 million during the same period last year.
Among the European nations, Belgium emerged as
the top recipient of Jordanian exports, totaling approximately JD18 million.
Free zone impact growth
Jordanian exports to other economic blocs
experienced steady growth in the first quarter of 2023.
The volume of exports to these blocs rose by
4.9 percent, reaching approximately JD230 million compared to JD219 million in
the previous year.
This increase was primarily driven by the
growth in exports to the free zone, which amounted to approximately JD106
million.
