The case, which dates back to 2018, was originally believed
to involve terror activity and was referred to the State Security Court. The
case was headed by Judge Montaser Obeidat and Judge Ahmed Abu Nwer.
However, it was later discovered that the case related to
trading activity rather than terrorism, and it was transferred to the Minor
Criminal Court.
Sheep herders involved in arms trafficking
The four individuals on trial were found to be sheep herders
from the same family.
One of them was deemed to be a fugitive involved in
transferring weapons to the Palestinian side via animals from areas close to
the Al-Karima area via an intermediary who received the shipments.
After an initial trial, the case was subject to appeal and
further investigations. One of the shepherds admitted to their activity,
leading to a retrial and subsequent sentencing of the defendants.
