AMMAN — The number of Jordanian travelers heading abroad
during Eid Al-Fitr decreased by 50 percent, according to secretary of the
Jordanian Society of Travel and Tourism Agents, Bassem Al-Ghalayini.

While Ghalayini did not share the exact reason for the sharp
decrease, he stated that the most popular destinations during the holidays have
been Sharm El-Sheikh, Antalya, and Istanbul.
High competitionDespite several promotional offers from tourism offices for
these destinations, Ghaylini highlighted that the competition was high, and
that prices during the holiday season tend to be higher than other times of the
year.
In regards to domestic tourism, he continued to explain that
most trips were day trips, not one-night stays, noting that there was an
increased in hotel prices and many Jordanians did not receive the preferential
rates to foreign tourists.
