In an interview with Al-Mamlaka TV, the president of the syndicate, Sultan
Allan, stated that the per capita spending of JD109 is considered modest. He
pointed out that mail parcels arriving in Jordan are not included in these
figures.
Furthermore, a study by the syndicate revealed that the
value of clothing imports into Jordan was JD250.882 million, with JD26.168 million going
specifically to Aqaba.
Comparing the years 2023 and 2022, there was an increase in the value of
imports to Jordan, except for Aqaba, which experienced a 6.6 percent decline.
In 2022, the total value of clothing imports into Jordan was JD235.364 million,
with Aqaba accounting for JD35.605 million.
The study indicates that clothing comes from various markets, primarily from
non-Arab Asian countries, specifically China and Turkey, as well as European
countries.
