In his
interview with "Petra" on Saturday, Khairy praised, on behalf of the
Palestinian people and leadership, the King's assurances and statements
affirming Jordan's support for the Palestinian people in restoring their just
and legitimate rights.
The King's
statements express his "consistent and principled" positions towards
the Palestinian cause and their rights, according to the envoy.
The
Palestinian people and their leadership highly value the King's "brotherly
and strong" stances since assuming his constitutional powers more than
twenty years ago, Khairy pointed out.
His Majesty
defends the Palestinian cause, which occupies a priority on his agenda, and
takes a "remarkable" place in all the King's meetings, contacts and
speeches, he pointed out.
The King, he
noted, works to achieve a just and comprehensive and lasting peace in the
region to restore Palestinian people's rights.
The
Palestinian envoy also valued His Majesty's affirmation to continue exerting
all efforts to protect Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites, under the
Hashemite custodianship.
The diplomat
stressed that the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and
Christian holy sites preserves sanctities and their Islamic, Christian, Arab
and Palestinian religious identity, in addition to protecting them against
Judaizing attempts.
Referring to
the "deep-rooted" Jordanian-Palestinian relations, Khairy highlighted the
joint keenness to enhance ties and
increase cooperation in all fields, lauding the many important Jordan's
facilitations to the Palestinian people in various fields.
