Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh met
in Dubai on Sunday with a group of young Jordanian entrepreneurs representing
companies in the field of sustainability and environmental protection on the
sidelines of the Global Climate Summit in Dubai.

According to Al-Mamlaka TV, during the
meeting, attended by the
Minister of Environment, Muawieh Radaideh, the Prime
Minister affirmed that Jordan's creative youth are a source of pride and hope
for the country, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting these
companies to achieve success locally and regionally, addressing environmental
challenges facing Jordan and the region.
He stated, "today, Jordan takes pride in
its
qualified human resources, characterized by initiative, the ability to
overcome challenges, and innovation." He highlighted the government's
support for innovation and creativity, acknowledging the importance of these
companies' contributions to smart agriculture, clean energy, water management,
carbon markets, and integrated waste management.
Khasawneh recognized the challenges these
companies face in terms of financing and their efforts to seek support from
neighboring countries. He encouraged this approach and expressed hope that even
if these initiatives expand to neighboring countries,
Jordanian youth will
continue to play a role, both in Jordan and abroad.
Khasawneh mentioned the
government's efforts to support startups in various fields, not just in environmental innovation. He
emphasized the need to create a legislative framework, regulations, and
financing mechanisms for startups and small and medium-sized enterprises. He
acknowledged the interest of several funds in neighboring countries to
contribute to financing innovative and entrepreneurial companies.
Khasawneh emphasized the importance of
achieving green growth and sustainable resource management as part of the
economic modernization vision. He encouraged
young Jordanian entrepreneurs to
be part of the national success story, expressing confidence that they can
contribute to achieving the vision's objectives.
In the environmental context, he highlighted
that Jordan has a high percentage of hybrid and electric vehicles, exceeding
many European countries with strict environmental regulations. He mentioned the
ongoing efforts to increase the share of clean energy sources in the
electricity mix and acknowledged the need for improvement in waste management
practices and public behavior related to environmental conservation.
