On Tuesday, His Majesty King Abdullah II received His Beatitude Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Melkite Greek Catholics, Joseph Absi, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.اضافة اعلان

During the meeting, which was also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Mohammad, Chief Advisor to the King for Religious and Cultural Affairs and the King’s personal envoy, His Majesty emphasized the importance of preserving the Christian presence in the Middle East.

The King also reiterated Jordan's commitment to supporting Syria's efforts in maintaining its security and stability and ensuring the rights of all its societal components.

For his part, Patriarch Absi praised the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and thanked Jordan for standing alongside the Palestinian people. He also commended His Majesty’s efforts to protect the presence of Eastern Christians and defend their holy sites and churches.

The Patriarch highlighted that Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership, is a model of coexistence and respect for Christian communities, pointing to His Majesty’s role in fostering interfaith dialogue and understanding through initiatives like the Amman Message, the "Common Word" initiative, and the World Interfaith Harmony Week.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the King's Office, Engineer Alaa Al-Bataineh, and the heads of the Melkite Catholic Churches in Jordan, Jerusalem, and Lebanon.
