His Majesty King Abdullah II followed up on Tuesday with the progress of updating the National Social Protection Strategy for the years (2025-2033), which is a continuation of the current strategy for the years (2019-2025).

During a meeting with a number of concerned officials, His Majesty emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors and civil society institutions in implementing the strategy to develop the social protection and care sector.
His Majesty pointed out the significance of monitoring the implementation of the strategy and evaluating performance according to a clear plan, as well as raising public awareness about the updated strategy and its programs.
The updated strategy aims to empower social protection service recipients and promote economic growth by integrating the social protection and care sector into the economic modernization vision, including it as an official sector in the executive program of the vision under the "Quality of Life" initiative.
The strategy also includes the launch of the Jordanian Social Register to improve the effectiveness of targeting the groups eligible for social protection services.
The meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Husein, discussed the achievements of the current National Social Protection Strategy for the years (2019-2025).
For her part, Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa explained that the medium- and long-term objectives of the updated strategy include expanding the coverage of social protection services, improving the targeting accuracy of beneficiaries, increasing spending efficiency, and linking social protection programs electronically.
The strategy also includes provisions aimed at raising public awareness of the concept of social protection, enhancing communication mechanisms with citizens, and activating the role of the private sector and civil society institutions.
The meeting was attended by Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Hassan Al-Issawi, and Director of His Majesty's Office, Engineer Alaa Al-Bataineh.
