AMMAN — His
Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday received a call from US President Joe Biden,
in which they discussed the deteriorating situation between the Palestinians
and the Israelis, as well as means to end escalation and protect civilians, according to a Royal Court statement.
In
the phone call, King Abdullah urged stepping up international efforts to stop
escalation in Gaza and its surroundings and to protect the region from the
repercussions of a new cycle of violence.

Majesty also called for ceasing all actions that could escalate tension,
highlighting the need to find a political horizon for peace, on the basis of
the two-state solution, guaranteeing the establishment of an independent,
sovereign Palestinian state, on the June 4th, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem
as its capital, which is the only way to reach just and comprehensive peace and
to guarantee everyone’s security and stability.
The
King warned that further escalations could negatively impact the region,
stressing the need for self-restraint, protecting civilians, and respecting
international humanitarian law.
