AMMAN — Parliament on Sunday presented its response to the Speech from the
Throne, which was delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah on November 15 to
inaugurate the 19th Parliament’s ordinary session, according to a Royal Court
statement.

With
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in attendance, the
Senate’s response, delivered by Senate President Faisal Fayez at the Royal Hashemite
Court, covered the importance of the upcoming political phase that Jordan is
embarking on in its second centennial.
The
Senate president said the second centennial will be one of political, economic,
administrative, and social development that builds on Jordanians’ achievements
and moves ahead gradually and methodically.
In the
House of Representatives’ response, Speaker Abdul Karim Dughmi said moving
ahead in modernization while safeguarding achievements requires clear programs
for the way forward, stressing the concrete impact of the proposed
constitutional amendments and the draft political parties and election laws.
Prime
Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Judicial Council President Mohammad Ghazou,
Constitutional Court President Hisham Tal, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef
Issawi, and Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Maaytah
attended Parliament’s response to the Speech from the Throne.
