King Abdullah on Tuesday received at Al Husseiniya Palace the chairman of the United Arab List at the Israeli Knesset,
Mansour Abbas, according to a Royal Court statement.

Discussions at the meeting covered the latest developments in the Palestinian Territories and means to push the peace process forward.
King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan’s support for the Palestinian people’s pursuit of their just and legitimate rights.
His Majesty stressed the need to achieve just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The King said Jordan will continue its efforts to safeguard Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, under the Hashemite Custodianship.
For his part, Abbas commended His Majesty’s position on the Palestinian cause and Jordan’s efforts to preserve the status quo in Jerusalem and support the steadfastness of Jerusalemites, expressing appreciation for the Kingdom’s role in facilitating procedures for education and the greater and lesser Muslim pilgrimages to Mecca (hajj and umra) for Arab Israelis.

The King also received Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff Gen. Konstantinos Floros at Al Husseiniya Palace on Tuesday.
Discussions covered means to advance defense cooperation between Jordan and Greece, as well as international efforts to counter terrorism within a holistic approach.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti attended the meeting.
