AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on
Sunday received the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission’s (IACC) report
for 2021 from IACC Chairman Muhannad Hijazi at Al-Husseiniya Palace.
King Abdullah stressed the importance of protecting
witnesses to encourage them to report suspected corruption cases and the need
to continue working to advance the IACC’s performance and oversight tools,
while keeping up with international indices and addressing issues to enhance
Jordan’s ranking.
Hijazi
highlighted the main IACC achievements, outlined in the report, including the
retrieval of JD142 million from corruption cases.
According to the report, 197 investigations were
referred to the IACC public prosecutor; the success rate of investigations
referred by the commission to the judiciary reached 83 percent.
Hijazi said the
commission launched the National Integrity Index, which measures the adherence
of 100 public institutions to national integrity standards, and highlighted the
master’s and high diploma programs in governance and combatting corruption,
launched by the IACC in cooperation with the University of Jordan.
