Amman- In his historic speech at the Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh Monday, His Majesty King Abdullah II underlined Jordan’s unwavering and clear position on the Palestinian issue and regional crises that put the world before its responsibility to end the Israeli aggression on Gaza and bring about peace in the region, according to politicians and academics.

His Majesty called for immediate and serious action, not words, to end the aggression and the killing, destruction and escalation, save lives in Gaza, and provide aid to its people.
The King warned that the continuation of the conflict in Gaza and Lebanon could lead to an all-out war, whose repercussions would impact everyone, calling for effective international action to stop the violations and protect innocent lives.
"The King's speech was far-reaching, comprehensive and bold as it succinctly and objectively embodied reality in addressing issues and the dangerous developments in the region, in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and the violence in the West Bank and Lebanon," politicians and academics commented.
They noted it firmly demanded that influential countries move from issuing statements and condemnations to a phase of real and tangible action, noting the speech reflects Jordan's political will in forging a unified Arab and Islamic position.
They cited His Majesty's focus on the humanitarian side of the catastrophe in Gaza and protection of holy sites, "a role that highlights his religious and political standing in the Arab and Islamic worlds as custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
"His Majesty's speech referred to the massive destruction inflicted by the Israeli military machine on the Gaza Strip, and the tragedy of the Palestinians there amid the silence of the international community, which emboldened Israel and gave it a free hand to make Gaza unlimited and open a parallel front with Lebanon," said Department of Palestinian Affairs Rafiq Kharfan.
"His Majesty emphasizd that this war must stop immediately, and warned against dragging the region into a broader conflict with dire consequences," he said.
"The King's speech restates Jordan's firm and clear position on the Palestinian issue and the region, as he directly referred to ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and holy sites, and held the international community responsible for failing to take action," commented political analyst Munther Al-Hiwarat.
"Israel crossed lines in the war on Gaza, escalation in the West Bank, attacks on holy shrines and the war on Lebanon, which shows an interconnection between regional crises and that the Israeli escalation threatens the security of the entire region," he said.
"His Majesty made it clear that Israeli crimes in Gaza are a collective punishment, saying it is painful that the life of a Palestinian matters less than that of an Israeli," commented Jordan Hasad Party secretary general Mazen Riyal.
Professor of Political Science at the University of Jordan Amin Mashaqbeh referred to His Majesty's call for ending the devastating war on Gaza and his query: "How can we address future generations to justify the world’s failure to stop this war?.
