Discussions addressed the deep-rooted bilateral ties and
means to advance them, with King Abdullah noting the importance of the Green
Middle East Initiative launched recently by Saudi Arabia and expressed Jordan’s
readiness to work with Saudi Arabia to counter environmental challenges in the
region, a Royal Court statement said.
The phone call came hours after Saudi King Salaman bin
Abdulaziz directed the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center
(KSRelief) to assist Jordan in covering the severe shortage of medical oxygen
at the Kingdom’s hospitals, caused by the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Saudi
Press Agency (SPA).
According to SPA, KSRelief will supply the Ministry of
Health with liquid oxygen, oxygen cylinders, and oxygen level regulators, in
addition to oxygen pumps and relevant devices.
King Salman’s directions come as part of “strong ties
between the two nations and the fraternal and humanitarian role Saudi Arabia
strives to play with brotherly nations,” the Saudi Agency said.
According to SPA, KSRelief has been in contact with the
Health Ministry to identify the ministry’s urgent needs, and mitigate the
severe shortage facing the Kingdom.
