AMMAN — Jordanians eagerly await an announcement from Prime
Minister Dr.
Bisher Al-Khasawneh regarding the date and duration of the
upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday. Anticipated to span five days, this includes the
day of standing on Mount Arafah and four days dedicated to celebrating
Eidal-Adha.

The Director of the
International Astronomical Center,
Mohammed Shaukat Ouda, has revealed that Wednesday, June 28, will officially
kick off the festivities for
Eid al-Adha, Addustour reported.
In Jordan, the Eid al-Adha holiday commences with the
day of Arafah, which falls on Tuesday, 9 Dhu al-Hijjah 1444, corresponding to June 27,
with July 1 marking the final day of the holiday.
New moon sightings around the region
Furthermore, the statement highlights that numerous
Islamic countries will be observing the sighting of the new moon for the month of Dhu
al-Hijjah on Sunday, June 18, 2023, corresponding to 29 Dhu al-Qa'dah 1444 AH.
It is worth noting that the moon sighting on this day may pose challenges when
using telescopes in the central and western regions of the Islamic world.
Additionally, Monday, June 19, is expected to be the first
day of Dhu al-Hijjah in many countries, while Tuesday, June 27, will be
observed as the day of Arafah.
