AMMAN –– The southern town of Al-Shobak and Ras Munif in the
northwestern Ajloun region registered record low temperatures of -5 degrees
Celsius early Monday, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

These lows were recorded during the depression that affected
the Kingdom the past days and brought snowfall in some regions, according to
the
Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).
JMD Director Raed Al-Khattab said in a press release that most of the weather
stations recorded surface temperatures below zero degrees Celsius, with the
Amman Civil Airport station recording -5 to -2.2 degrees, Ras Munif -5, Zarqa
-1.2, Salt -3.8, Mafraq -1, Qatraneh -1.7, Al-Raba -3, Tafileh -3, Shobak -5,
and Maan -1.
He said that freezing affected many regions of the Kingdom, adding that the
coming night and morning will see even lower temperatures, urging the public to
take extra precautions due to freezing.
