AMMAN— On Thursday, Minister of Public Works and Housing Eng. Yahya Musa Kisbi stressed the importance of taking precautionary measures to prepare for winter, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

In a statement on Thursday, Kisbi indicated that the ministry had approved a plan for emergencies for each governorate and an extra mutual plan in case of severe conditions.
The emergency plan entails opening main roads and bystreets to remove the snow, sand, and stones and prevent the repercussions of floods and torrents.
Kisbi added that all governorates must be informed of the preventive measures along with the emergency plan to solve any issues instantly.
The minister also approved that departments could rent machinery from the private sector as necessary, indicating that around 750 tonnes of salt were stocked for use in weather emergencies, according to the statement.
