The Kuwaiti media said 568 people applied for
various teaching positions, but that 200 were shortlisted for interviews held
last month. Of those interviewed, 169 were hired and are being contracted by
the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education to teach in Kuwait.
The 169 will be assigned to teach different
subjects, such as English-language, mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology,
and science.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Education said it needs to hire more
than 600 teachers to provide educational cadres for pre-existing schools as
well as new schools, which are opening
in the country. The ministry is looking to procure teachers from Kuwait itself
and other countries, like Jordan, to fill shortages in the sector.
