AMMAN — The Ministry of Labor has received complaints that about 8,000 establishments have terminated employees' contracts since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.

The ministry's spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud contended that the number of people whose jobs were terminated amounted to around 10,000.
The number of people who got their jobs back equals about 6,600.
Zyoud added that about 3,400 jobs were legally terminated without violations of the labor law or defense orders.
"Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Labor has received 110,000 complaints and inquiries related to job termination and delay in payments," according to Zyoud.
Zyoud pointed out that 22,000 establishments delayed employees' salaries, while around 17,700 establishments were committed to paying the wages to about 370,000 workers. In addition, approximately 300 complaints were related to the minimum wages.
According to Zyoud, 90 percent of the complaints were addressed and solved.
