Lower House Energy Committee
chairman, Zaid Otoum, demanded that those who caused the Treasury’s loss of an
estimated JD8.7 million must be held accountable, following the arbitration
case filed by a power company, according to Jo24.

Agreements signed by the
government with power
generating companies requires the government to pay compensation in the event
of modifying the electrical tariff, as any tariff change would affect the
companies’ profits. He added that the government has recently rebalanced power
prices and introduced the fuel price-difference clause, which the related
companies said was in violation of the signed agreement and thus requested
JD1.4 million in compensation and won the case.
