Before the draft IEC law was submitted to the Senate,
lawmakers added “political parties” to the name of the IEC. However, the
senators deleted the addition and sent the bill back to the Lower House as per
the Constitution.
In a session on Monday, the deputies insisted on having
“political parties” incorporated in the election commission’s name. Should both
chambers dig in, they will have to convene a joint session and vote on the
draft.
