Professor of Constitutional Law and Human Rights at the University of Jordan, Laith Nasrawin, said that the
Jordanian MP detained in Israel for smuggling weapons and gold will not benefit from immunity there.

According to Khaberni, he added that the
MP will not be able to invoke parliamentary or diplomatic immunity since he is not a diplomat
covered by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
Calls for releaseJordanian MPs have called for the release of their colleague
and for everything possible to be done to secure his release and return him to
Jordan.
Earlier Saturday, Hebrew media outlets reported that
Israeli occupation authorities arrested a Jordanian MP on charges of attempting to
smuggle weapons, in addition to 100kg of gold into the West Bank.
The occupation authorities claimed that the Jordanian MP was
arrested at the King Hussein Bridge and that the weapons and gold were found
inside his vehicle in large bags.
The official spokesperson for the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Sinan Al-Majali, said that the ministry, in
coordination with all relevant parties, is following up on the case of MP Imad
Al-Adwan.
Majali said that the ministry, in cooperation with the
relevant agencies in the Kingdom, is working to understand the situation and
address it as soon as possible.
