Agriculture Ministry spokesperson Laurence
Majali said on Monday that inspection units registered scattered swarms of
desert locust in southern areas of the capital, including Sahab, Wadi Al-Sir,
Al-Mgabalein, and airport road.

Majali said that the swarms reached Amman from desert
regions, aided by the wind, stressing that locust control measures are
underway, including specialized pesticide spraying mechanisms.
The spokesperson warned that some of these swarms might have
already been sprayed in other regions before arriving in the capital, and must
not be touched or collected, as they may cause health hazards.
