Fayez confirmed that the proposal
will soon be presented to the
parliamentary legal committee for formulation and
submission to the government.
Calls for
general amnestyDuring a meeting with a group of
citizens who staged a sit-in in front of the Lower House to demand
general amnesty, Fayez assured that his committee is working diligently through all
constitutional channels to issue a general amnesty that includes all cases,
especially those that have had personal rights dropped from them.
Fayez also explained that the
economic conditions experienced by individuals are a convincing reason for
making a decision on a
general amnesty.
He pointed out that reform and
rehabilitation centers have become overcrowded, negatively affecting the
services provided and the
health care for inmates.
Hotline for
communicationAdditionally, Fayez stated that the
committee is launching a hotline to communicate with citizens in order to
enable them to present their cases to the parliamentary freedoms without cost
or hassle.
MPs Abdullah Abu Zeid and Shadi
Freij emphasized the necessity of special consideration for cases that do not
pose a danger to social peace or the
national economy.
They also took into account the
cases in which personal rights have been dropped.
