The discussions are expected to last a few days, with evening and morning sessions, and the voting process could take place as early as Thursday. Last week, deputies agreed to allocate 15 minutes for each bloc and 10 minutes for individual deputies to discuss the budget.

Report findingsThe Lower House Finance Committee presented its report to the deputies last week, confirming the government's efforts to ease economic pressures amid the rise in global commodity prices.

The committee praised the measures taken, saying they have contributed to curbing inflation and safeguarding the standard of living for individuals.

However, the committee also noted that subsidies for oil derivatives in 2022 and bread subsidies this year are only temporary and insufficient in addressing the inflationary pressures people face.

The committee's report indicated that the estimated public revenues for the current fiscal year amount to JD9.569 billion, including both local revenues and foreign grants. Meanwhile, the estimated public expenditures are estimated to reach JD11.431 billion, with a projected deficit of JD 1.862 billion.

The total expenditures of government units for the current fiscal year are estimated to be JD 1.466 billion, including current and capital expenditures.
