MPs also criticized Western countries' decision to stop
funding UNRWA, and thanked South Africa for its position in the
International Court of Justice (ICJ), Al-Ghad reported.
The session was headed by
Speaker of the House Ahmad Al-Safadi, partially managed by MP Abdul Rahim Maayah, and attended by Prime
Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh and several members of the government team. For
the third day in a row, MPs debated the draft general budget law for fiscal
year 2024, and they will continue to do so again in a session on Tuesday.
The cash level for the state's general budget in fiscal year
2024 has increased, and MPs have questioned the
Social Security Corporation's
(SSC) growing borrowing with no clear return deadline. MPs demanded not to
touch the student support fund and to adopt the previous form without any
modification, to raise the salaries of employees, military personnel, and
retirees, to enact a law of general amnesty to alleviate the citizens' burden,
and to refuse any tampering with the northern and eastern borders, expressing
their support for the
Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF) and border
