AMMAN —
Malaysia is planning to support Jordan with capacity-building programs and
technical assistance, an official from the Malaysian embassy said on Tuesday,
according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Afzan Ismayatim, chargée d’affaires at the Malaysian embassy in Amman, was
speaking at a graduation ceremony of this year’s cohort of the Malaysian
Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP).
The MTCP is a
Malaysian program that has offered training and capacity-building programs to
developing countries since 1980. Some 54 Jordanians have graduated from the
program in 2022, the official said.
She noted that
the program focuses on human capital development in areas such as public
administration, agriculture, poverty alleviation, investment promotion,
ICT, banking,
and the English language.
More courses
will be made available to Jordanian students, she said, including in tourism,
pharmaceuticals, agriculture, energy, the food and beverage industry, Islamic
banking, textiles industry, taxation and customs management, economic planning
and cyber security, microfinance, and IT auditing will be made available to
Jordanian students, she continued.
