Amman - Minister of Social Development, Head of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women's Empowerment, Wafa Bani Mustafa, discussed with the head and members of the interim administrative body of the Jordanian Women's Union (JWU), prospects for developing women's charitable associations in various fields.

During the meeting held at the ministry's headquarters Sunday, Bani Mustafa stressed the importance of partnership with the JWU, which represents a "national beacon that has always been an incubator for women's work over many decades," which has positively reflected on enhancing the Kingdom's voluntary sector and boosting women's participation in local communities.
The ministry, she noted, will soon approve a mechanism to classify and assess Jordan's associations based on "clear and specific" criteria, aimed to raise the quality and type of services provided to the target groups.
The minister also stressed the importance of legislation regulating the associations' activities, aimed to govern their operations and fulfill their role in a sound legal manner.
