Zarqa- The Media Innovation Festival 2024, showcasing creative works from media students across Jordanian universities, celebrated its winners today at Zarqa University.

The event, supported by Kuwait's Nama Charitable Foundation, recognized excellence across multiple media categories including written journalism, visual productions, podcasting, and digital media projects.
The festival attracted over 140 submissions from media faculties across Jordan, featuring works that addressed various social issues, with a special category dedicated to coverage of the Palestinian cause.
The entries were evaluated by a panel of experienced media professionals and industry experts.
In the written journalism category, Zain Al-Tarawneh and Sujoud Al-Miqdadi from Yarmouk University claimed first place for their work "Gaza in Arab Hearts and Daily Lives."
The visual media category saw five awards distributed, with Mohammad Muhessen, Nidal Ali, and Fadi Iskandarani from Al-Khawarizmi University College securing the top position for their project "Towards the Future."
The digital media category's top honor went to Mohammad Abdul-Ghafour from Zarqa University for his digital platform "Gaza in Numbers," while the special award for Palestinian cause coverage was presented to Dana Daoud Al-Qarna from Yarmouk University for her piece "When Gazans' Phones Became Death Detectors and Witnesses to Occupation Crimes."
During the ceremony, Minister of Youth Yazan Al-Shedifat emphasized the festival's crucial role in enhancing youth capabilities in digital media.
"This platform reflects our deep commitment to supporting young people's creative projects and developing their digital media skills, which have become essential tools in shaping awareness and promoting cultural dialogue," Al-Shedifat said.
Dr. Amjad Safouri, Dean of the Media Faculty at Zarqa University, noted that the festival serves as more than just an academic event.
"These submissions represent genuine expressions of our society's issues, showcasing professional and responsible media content creation," he explained.
Khalid Al-Shamari, Project Director at Kuwait's Nama Charitable Foundation, highlighted the festival's special significance this year, particularly with its focus on the Palestinian cause.
He emphasized the foundation's commitment to empowering youth as "the pillars of the future" and essential contributors to sustainable development.
The event was attended by Dr. Nidal Al-Ramhi, President of Zarqa University, Nasser Al-Mutairi, Kuwait's Chargé d'Affairs in Jordan, and various media faculty deans and department heads from across the country.
