He further emphasized that the customers would be the ones adversely affected by the association's decision, which could potentially result in a
negative impact on the quality of service extended to those insured, Saraya News reported. Kloob called for open dialogue and emphasized the need to prioritize the broader public interest.
He indicated that an upcoming meeting, convened by the Lower House Health Committee, aims to facilitate discussions with the
medical association. He also noted that, if necessary, the federation might resort to legal measures to address the decision.
Profit margin does not surpass JD300,000
He highlighted that "the current number of
insured individuals stands at 690,000, spread across 21 companies. Despite the
substantial capital in each company, the profit margin for each company does
not surpass JD300,000.
Meanwhile, the
Jordan Medical Association Council made an announcement regarding the discontinuation of processing
insurance cases starting from September 2, with exceptions made for emergency
cases,
cancer patients, and individuals suffering from kidney failure. The
council affirmed its commitment to continue offering services to patients in
exchange for cash payments, adhering to the pricing structure set for the year
2021.
The
Ministry of Industry and Trade is
currently assessing whether the medical association's decision to suspend
medical treatments for insured individuals through insurance companies could be
considered "anti-competitive." This evaluation comes in accordance
with statements made by the Ministry's spokesperson, Yanal Al-Barmawi.
