Owais told a media
forum organized by the Center for Defending Freedom of Journalists that sexual
harassment is problematic for the ministry, asserting that efforts are being
exerted to prevent the act from transpiring on campuses.
He warned that
students or faculty members found guilty of sexual harassment will be expelled
from their institution.
Owais pointed out that
universities are independently mapping out plans to prevent recurrence of the
June fatal shooting of a female Jordanian student on campus. The minister said
the plans include setting up cameras around campuses, and checking the
identification cards of visitors and students entering university grounds.
