AMMAN —
Minister of Culture Haifa Al-Najjar attended a session on “Government
leadership philosophy: Dialogue with Arab female ministers”, part of a forum
preceding the World Government Summit, which opened in Dubai on Tuesday and
aims to shape the next global agenda, according to Khaberni.

Najjar addressed
the session, which was attended by female ministers from Syria, Egypt, and the
UAE. She said that Jordanian governments have sought to empower women and
reinforce their participation in various fields, but that social and economic
challenges have delayed efforts.
Najjar said there
have not been more than 30 female ministers since 1921, but that, but over the
past century women have been an integral part of Jordanian resilience and
partners in development, noting the transformations taking place in the Kingdom
at the legislative and policy levels that aim to increase women’s political and
economic participation.
Women in the UAE
have achieved an advanced level of participation in various sectors, Najjar
said, hailing the efforts of the UAE government in bridging the gender gap and
raising the country’s score in international indicators related to women’s
empowerment.
Government
officials and experts from around the world have convened in Dubai at the World
Government Summit 2022 to address some of the challenges currently facing
humanity and their potential solutions.
