Minister of Agriculture: Untreated Organic Fertilizer Will Not Be Allowed into the Jordan Valley
Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat affirmed on Saturday that untreated organic fertilizer will not be allowed to enter the Jordan Valley.

During an inspection tour that included a processed organic fertilizer plant and several agricultural and tourist areas in the Jordan Valley, Hneifat stated that the ministry, in partnership with the Ministries of Interior, Local Administration, Environment, Transport, and Water, along with the Public Security Directorate, is working on a comprehensive campaign to combat houseflies in the Jordan Valley. The goal is to protect public health from the spread of epidemics and to safeguard the agricultural sector, as well as the tourism sector in the Baptism Site area and nearby hotels.اضافة اعلان

He explained that efforts are being made by completely preventing untreated organic fertilizer from reaching agricultural areas in the valley, and instead requiring it to be delivered to specialized plants for proper processing, including the use of biological control techniques during the treatment stages.

Hneifat added that through field schools, the ministry is educating farmers about the importance of using treated organic fertilizer and its positive impact on agricultural production. In addition, extensive spraying campaigns are being conducted in areas identified as breeding grounds for flies, with ongoing monitoring and studies on fly population levels and the effectiveness of awareness and spraying efforts. There are also continuous campaigns to monitor the transportation of untreated organic fertilizer.
