Minister of Public Works Inspects Progress of Zarqa-Mafraq Road Rehabilitation and Azraq Entrance Improvement Projects
Amman - Today, the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Engineer Maher Abuelsamen, inspected the ongoing maintenance, improvement, and rehabilitation works of the Zarqa-Mafraq road project. This project, carried out by the ministry, covers the stretch from Thughret Al-Jub to the King Hussein Air Base Bridge, passing by Al al-Bayt University, with a total length of 13 km.اضافة اعلان

The project involves resurfacing the road, applying a new asphalt layer, painting road markings, installing traffic safety elements, and other necessary works, all adhering to the highest international standards.

This road was prioritized in the current phase because it is a vital link between the capital and the governorates of Zarqa, Mafraq, and Irbid, extending toward the border with neighboring Syria.

Minister Abuelsamen instructed workers to accelerate the pace of the project, given the road's importance and high traffic volume. He also emphasized the need to monitor and properly equip traffic detours with all necessary safety measures.

In the city of Azraq, Abuelsamen also inspected the improvement and reorganization works at the Azraq entrance, which the ministry recently completed. The project aimed to widen the road from South Azraq toward North Azraq by 4 meters over a stretch of approximately 1.9 kilometers.

The works included replacing the concrete layer within the central and triangular islands with interlocking tiles and removing a side island on the right of the road from South to North Azraq, spanning about 12 meters.

Additionally, the project involved installing traffic signs and reflectors, painting the sides of the road, and placing directional signs for the area.

This project is part of the comprehensive Azraq development plan, which aims to improve the entrance to the region, upgrade the road infrastructure, enhance services for residents, increase traffic safety, and add aesthetic elements that align with the area's natural landscape.
