Amman– The Ministry of Government Communication, in partnership with a European Union-funded project for enhancing the media system in Jordan, organized a discussion workshop on Monday to review feedback on the organizational guide for media units.

The event targeted media spokespeople from ministries and official institutions.
The workshop addressed key topics, including the organizational structure and roles of media and government communication units, the responsibilities of media spokespeople and liaison officers, and the coordination of roles between these units and ministries.
Discussions also covered the evaluation of media spokespeople’s performance and the potential unification of media and communication references across government bodies.
Zaid Nawaiseh, Secretary-General of the Ministry, emphasized that the workshop aimed to produce actionable recommendations to advance the media sector and enhance the roles of media spokespeople.
He highlighted the ministry’s commitment to professional development for media officials and collaborative efforts with all media field partners, led by Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani.
Nawaiseh pointed out the ministry’s focus on assessing the tasks of media spokespeople to establish a professional and institutional framework while addressing challenges posed by the rise of social media.
He underscored the importance of linking traditional and digital media work, emphasizing the need for skilled digital media officials to navigate the current media landscape’s speed and transparency.
The workshop forms part of ongoing initiatives to qualify media spokespeople through specialized training programs. Nawaiseh expressed appreciation for the European Union’s support in fostering the development of Jordan’s media system and advancing professional practices.
