— The winners of the prestigious Green Factory Award were announced on
Thursday, marking a significant milestone in Jordan's pursuit of
environmentally responsible business practices and its transition to a green
economy.

The
award, launched by the Jordan Chamber of Industry's Energy and Environmental
Sustainability Unit in collaboration with the German Agency for International
Cooperation's (GIZ) Green Action in Enterprises project, aims to encourage and
recognize companies that prioritize sustainability in their operations, the
Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Winners
Three
distinguished companies emerged as winners of the Green Factory Award: the Fine
Company for the manufacture of sanitary paper, Siniora for Food Industries, and
Giant for Chemical Industries.
In recognition of their commitment to
sustainable practices, these companies will receive a total of 24,000 euros to
further enhance their opportunities for growth and development.
The
closing ceremony of the green factory award was graced by the presence of
Minister of Environment Muawiya Radaydah, who attended on behalf of Prime
Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh.
Radaydah
emphasized the alignment of this competition with the government's economic
policies, which are forged through partnerships with the private sector to
accelerate the adoption of clean energy and mitigate carbon emissions and
environmental impacts within the manufacturing and production sectors.
He
lauded the growing awareness within the Jordanian industrial sector regarding
the significance of transitioning toward a green economy.
Wide
participationRadaydah
highlighted that the competition, which saw the participation of 39 local
factories, was launched approximately five months ago in collaboration with the
Jordan Chamber of Industry and the Ministries of Industry, Trade, and Supply,
and Environment.
Jordan's
commitment to fostering a green economy is evident through a series of
comprehensive plans and strategies that are rooted in the Economic
Modernization Vision. This visionary 10-year roadmap for the economic
advancement of the Kingdom encompasses a range of initiatives aimed at
equipping business owners with the necessary tools and knowledge to embrace
sustainability practices.
