AMMAN — The
Jordan Medical Association
(JMA) issued a statement that they would no longer be providing treatment to
people paying through insurance companies, instead they will only take cash as
their row with the
Jordan Insurance Federation reaches a stand-still. The
Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply is currently studying the decision to
consider its legality and effects, the ministry spokesperson, Yanal Baramawy,
said.

In a press statement on Sunday, he said
that the main consideration is whether it breaches
Jordan's Competition Law, especially Article (20/c), which prohibits any private sector entity from
regulating practice of any profession, Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
He added that the law also bans these
private entities to sponsor any agreement or arrangement that restricts or
prevents competition contrary to the law's provisions.
Baramawy said the necessary measures will
be taken to address the issue, in accordance with the law's provisions and
relevant legislation.
