Ministry of Agriculture in Jordan has begun administering the second dose of
the anti-foot and mouth disease (FMD) vaccine to combat the ongoing outbreak,
which has claimed the lives of 458 cows and 554 calves since the beginning of
the outbreak, as of Thursday morning.

Easing restrictionsAccording
to local media outlets, the ministry's
follow-up committee has eased the level
of emergency and allowed leave for veterinarians and nurses while remaining
ready to deal with any emergency.
The
committee confirmed that the virus is not spreading outside infected farms.
The
ministry has been working to contain the outbreak through vaccinations and
other measures.
In
the affected areas, over 27,000 cows have already been immunized, representing
80 percent of the Kingdom's cow herds.
