The courses will be supervised by specialized trainers and will include tests and exams, which will be conducted online. Currently, the platform is free, however, there may be a fee added in the future a ministry official told Jordan News.

The platform, teachers.gov.jo, aims to provide services to teachers, as well as those who are looking to join the education sector.

Director of follow-up and quality control at the Ministry of Education, Mohammad Jdou, told Jordan News that "this is the first phase of an important and full program that aims to improve the level of education and develop teachers' skills."

"We began with a training course for grade 1–3 teachers, which will end on June 24," Jdou said, adding that the course is also meant to "monitor how the platform works. We can call this a trial to see if the platform works efficiently or needs any updates."

"Our plan is to let this platform be available for teachers all around Jordan, whether they are private or governmental school teachers.”

The official added that the platform may be expanded for teachers throughout the Middle East in the future. “It is free for now, but we might in the future need to let teachers pay a little amount for registration,” because the platform will contain so much information and resources, he added.

Zein Al-Fawwaz, communications manager at the Queen Rania Teacher Academy, told Jordan News that "our academy is not involved in the program, but I still believe that it is a good opportunity for teachers."

"This is good for teachers in which they have different choices, and they can choose what is best for them.”

The communications manager added: "In the end, we must all work together especially in these circumstances that require us to put all our efforts to improve the level of education."

The new platform is a result of joint efforts by RTI International, UKaid, USAID, and Knowledge beam, according to a statement.
