Kharabsheh explained that the extraction of phosphate and
potash, in larger quantities, will increase Jordan's exports abroad, Hala News
reported.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Energy has signed 13
memoranda of understanding for mineral extraction in various areas of the kingdom.
Noting that these agreements are directly related to the vision of economic
revitalization, aimed at benefiting from national resources.
Details of the MoU
The MoU for the exploration of phosphate in the Al-Risha
area, with a duration of two and a half years, allows Al-Tasnim Enterprises to
explore phosphate in an area of 300 km2 by conducting exploratory
studies and prospecting for ore, and evaluating economic feasibility with the
aim of establishing transformative industries not currently present in the
kingdom, in addition to creating food and pharmaceutical industries utilizing
phosphate ore.
The memorandum of understanding for the exploration and
evaluation of shale potash ores in the Lisan area, with a duration of three and
a half years, allows Al-Tasnim Enterprises to conduct exploration operations on
an area of 34 km2 by evaluating the ore and conducting exploratory
studies in the area.
Kharabsheh stressed the ministry's policy of not allowing
the export of phosphate production from the Al-Risha area in its raw form, but
rather it will be utilized in transformative and chemical industries in areas
where mineral ores are present to maximize the benefit of this major national
project and expand employment opportunities, contributing to sustainable
development efforts.
