The event was attended by representatives of the Jordan Judicial Council, the Jordan Bar Association, the National Center for Human Rights, and the Spanish Embassy, in addition to several partners.
In a speech during the launch event, Abadi said that, based on the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah and the recommendations of the Royal Committee for Developing the Judiciary and Enhancing the Rule of Law, the Code of Criminal Procedure has been amended to grant the right to legal aid in criminal cases for any Jordanian person or resident in Jordan.
The Ministry of Justice has also established a specialized directorate for legal aid, with the aim of providing legal assistance to those entitled to it and establishing a legal aid fund, she said.
The launch of the digital legal aid system is part of a series of projects to enhance access to justice under the justice sector’s strategy for the years 2022–2026. The system aims to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of legal aid by automating legal aid procedures and including them in the Mizan Court Case Processing System managed by the ministry.
