According to a statement from the ministry, the MoU aims to facilitate the operations of the construction sector by providing flexibility in procedures to meet the demand for non-Jordanian labor during specific seasons.

Minister of Labor Dr. Khaled Al-Bakar, Head of the Jordanian Contractors Association Fouad Al-Dweiri, Director General of the Social Security Corporation Dr. Mohammad Al-Tarawneh, and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Labor Farouk Al-Hadidi attended the signing.

Dr. Al-Bakar emphasized that the MoU aims to ensure the continuity of the construction sector’s work and prevent any disruptions by enabling the movement of non-Jordanian workers who hold valid work permits within the sector, allowing them to transfer from one employer to another under specific conditions.

He noted that the MoU also protects non-Jordanian workers through the Social Security Corporation, which is a key partner in the agreement, ensuring protection for workers in the event of workplace injuries.

Dr. Mohammad Al-Tarawneh, Director General of the Social Security Corporation, described the agreement as a step in the right direction, providing protection for non-Jordanian workers, allowing them to move from one employer to another within the construction sector.

Fouad Al-Dweiri, Head of the Contractors Association, said that the MoU would facilitate the construction sector’s work, allowing for the efficient use of non-Jordanian workers with valid work permits, without causing legal violations for employers, while ensuring they receive the protection provided by social security. He also praised the Ministry of Labor's cooperation with the private sector.

During the meeting, the establishment of a company by the Contractors Association to manage the affairs of non-Jordanian labor in the construction sector was discussed. This includes the recruitment, employment, and monitoring of these workers with employers.

Additionally, there was an agreement to reactivate the training center at the Jordanian Contractors Association, which previously worked on training the Jordanian workforce in the skills required by the construction sector to increase the number of Jordanians working in this vital industry.
