The ministry stated to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Tuesday that it has intensified its anti-begging campaigns during the holy month, with teams operating around the clock in markets, traffic signals, and public spaces. These efforts are conducted in coordination with Public Security Directorate and judicial authorities.
The ministry urged citizens to avoid giving money to beggars and instead direct their donations to officially approved charities and fundraising campaigns.
Additionally, the ministry has instructed charitable organizations under its supervision to increase awareness efforts about the dangers and legal consequences of begging. It emphasized that begging is a criminal offense under Article 389 of the Jordanian Penal Code.
