AMMAN — The Ministry of Social Development issued a
statistical report on its key services and assistance provided by the National
Aid Fund (NAF) and affiliated associations to a number of beneficiaries, and
the service type last month, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

spokesperson Ashraf Khreis said the report showed that the ministry’s
directorates provided cash assistance to 2,693 families, while 2,318 households
benefited from in-kind assistance.
Additionally, he
added, 8,359 studies were conducted to grant health insurance to
underprivileged families, and 82 others aimed to exempt some people from
treatment expenses.
He said nine nurseries
were licensed, while five others received unspecified warnings. The number of
requests to purchase homes for underprivileged families hit 141, he said,
adding that 50 households applied for housing maintenance.
In October, he
said, the ministry’s Anti-Vagrancy Department arrested 1,298 street beggars
nationwide. He said the ministry also carried out 431 inspection campaigns, and
conducted 896 studies related to juvenile cases, while its staff examined 1,606
applications to issue exemptions from work permit fees.
According to the
NAF’s work report for last month, the number of new families benefiting from
the recurring monthly aid program stood at 1,253, while 852 new households
benefited from the urgent and quick emergency financial aid, and 16 others
benefited from the physical rehabilitation program.
