Livestock
imports include sheep and calves; also imported may be red meat,
refrigerated, frozen, or vacuum packed, to expand importers’ options and enable
them to buy them for the lowest possible prices.
Hneifat
added that the ministry canceled all restrictions, including import periods and
quantities, indicating that for the holy month of
Ramadan, the ministry also allows
imports of frozen, boneless, and cut chicken.
The
ministry conducted several meetings to ensure the removal of obstacles that
hinder work in agriculture and food production, and enhance the partnership
with the private sector, Hneifat pointed out. The meetings resulted, among
others, in canceling the import licenses for around 80 products.
The
ministry also canceled many imports conditions on around 120 commodities, but
Hneifat stressed that the ministry is committed to sustaining and protecting
local products.
