A statement by
the Ministry of Health on Saturday cited Hawari as saying that the ministry is
cooperating with the Ministry of Education and the Royal Health Awareness
Society to prepare a campaign to change societal behavior and prevent obesity
among school students, given the importance of health education in preventing,
treating, and reducing the complications arising from obesity and beingoverweight.
Hawari added
that helping families deal with children with diabetes is urgently needed to
mitigate the psychological and social effects of this disease, and will
positively affect the children’s health, enabling them to live a healthy life.
The minister praised the
Nurses Syndicate’s efforts in setting up the camp, expressing hope that it will
be a pioneering experience that could be generalized to include all children
suffering from this disease, adding that type 1 and 2 diabetes, “threaten many
children in the world” due to the change in lifestyle and food, and the high
