A representative of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Department stressed that the violations were mainly caused by cars driving in convoys, which created traffic jams and put people’s lives at risk, adding that legal actions were taken against violators.

He also stressed that the department will continue to sanction these violations to ensure that a safe traffic environment is achieved in the country.

A highway patrol officer said a driver was caught driving 205km/h on Airport Road, where the speed limit is 100km/h at the most. The traffic patrols also dealt with the driver of a car that hit a utility pole in the Al-Amiriah area, blocking the left lane and creating traffic jam.
